Dave Ramsey is an awesome dude. Ever heard of him? He has a really good story that is totally worth reading. He was a rich man that went poor and then MADE IT. Again. In his about me section he says “Starting from nothing, by the time I was 26 I had a net worth of a little over a million dollars. I was making $250,000 a year—that’s more than $20,000 a month net taxable income. I was really having fun. But 98% truth is a lie, and that 2% can cause big problems, especially with $4 million in real estate. I had a lot of debt—a lot of short-term debt—and I’m the idiot who signed up for the trip.” Needless to say he has a really cool story and there Is a lot that you can learn from him and he is more than willing to teach. He then says “After losing everything, I went on a quest to find out how money really works, how I could get control of it and how I could have confidence in handling it. I read everything I could get my hands on. I interviewed older rich people, people who made money and kept it. That quest led me to a really, really uncomfortable place: my mirror. I came to realize that my money problems, worries and shortages largely began and ended with the person in my mirror. I also realized that if I could learn to manage the character I shaved with every morning, I would win with money.”

I spent a few day reading around his website and then I finally decided to buy his books. BEST DECISION EVER. If you know anything about me from my previous reviews and thoughts, you know that I do not like to read books on topics that I am not interested in and furthermore I hate fiction books. I have a huge imagination and I can make my own stories up. I don’t have time for other fake stories so with that being said I love books that I can learn things from and apply to my daily living. Well the book TOTAL MONEY MAKEOVER is where I started with my Dave Ramsey Books and I read the book cover to cover in a day and a half. I have a busy, demanding and very tight schedule but this book was well worth the sacrifice of free time here and there to read it from cover to cover. I jumped in head over heels for it. The stories in it of people in debt up to their ears and using the system to become not only debt free but build wealth! It’s really cool. I do not want to get too far off on a rabbit trail but…Do you ever listen to podcasts? I am not sure how many people take advantage of them on iTunes but I just started to and one of the ones I am subscribed to is The Dave Ramsey Show. It is a recording of his radio show where you can get some sound financial advice. Listen to people call in and scream out that they are DEBT FREE and even laugh some at Dave’s good sense of humor.

When I found out that Dave had written a book for small business people I was stoked. I knew that it would be awesome because he has built an amazing empire from nothing. They say the best people to learn from are the ones that have gone before right? So the book is called EntreLeadership: 20 Years of Practical Business Wisdom from the Trenches Review. Cool name right? The only bad news about the book is that it’s not out until September, 20, 2011. I know how you feel. I was the same way. I have mine on pre-order on amazon so I can get it right away. Between this and the book iSteve I will be waiting FOREVER for these books. For being a non reader like I am it feels good to anticipate a book release. 🙂 The only thing that would make it even better would be to have hand signed copies of these books. Ok now back to reality. I am pumped to read the book and come back ad add to this post with a review of my thoughts on it. Are you a dave fan? What is your story?
